Web Comic Review for 08/29/2003
Hello my loyal readers and welcome to all you newcomers! And by loyal readers I mean myself and all my multiple personalities...uh, I mean all my friends. You believe that right? Ok, well the comic to read this week is Strike Force 3 by Aaron "Lando" Lancaster. Hmmm, I would say this guy ripped off the "South Park" look, but he claims he thought it up first. I'll give him credit. Marvel and DC ripped off lots of my ideas when I was just a little god. Dirty corporations; always stealing from us complete unknowns.

Welcome to the messed up (yeah, I am reviewing another messed up strip) world that is Strike Force 3. I don't know whether to give Lando credit for his original storyline or to shot him as you would a deranged animal on a farm. Hmm, I think I'll praise him at least for now. The storyline revolves around two crime fighting teenagers and a midget bounty hunter. Don't ask. Meet Karate Keith, a super powered teen endowed with mystical powers by an ancient dragon. Fight with stereotypical ninja Judo Jim. Look not only is this guy unoriginal, he isn't even a good color. What kind of color is grey for a ninja? Let’s stick with black; it has worked so far. Finally, let’s party with the midget, bounty hunter Sledge Hammer. Well, you may lose points for the ninja, but you certainly get points for originality on this guy. If this isn't messed up enough, apparently there is a storyline. So far, it has involved a George W. Bush clone that turned into a giant robot and tried to kill the Strike Force guys and an old rich white man who gives the team orders. Yeah, it is that messed up.

I am going to cover the good and the bad of the site together. The first good point is the artwork. If I was judging this site on just artwork, we would definitely be giving this one five stars. While some of you may not like the style, you can't deny the originality of this simplistic art style. I think the characters look a bit too much like the South Park guys, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt on that one. Besides, some of you might actually be fans of those little guys from South Park. Personally, I am not a fan, but then again, that might just be because I still think it should have been a web comic. Animation is so overrated. Ok, artwork aside, there is a plot line. Not a very good one but a plot line nonetheless. I have to be honest with you my readers; I am not a fan of this comic. I think it is really slow first off. This comic updates twice a week, and Lando seems to post about two to four pages every time he updates. Still, in the last week, I don't feel like the comic had advanced at all. Today, Strike Force 3 readers were treated to a little back story on Karate Keith. The problem is, it took four pages, and it had nothing to do with the current storyline. Let’s just find out about his origin story later when we are more interested in the comic or maybe shorten it to one page. A comic like this should really have some kind of kicker joke or plot point in at least every-other page. I know that is a bit demanding, but I have seen it done too much to believe it unreasonable. There don't really seem to be any jokes (other than ironies like "Puffy" da Mystical Dragon"), and the action, while interesting, is too drawn out. I am having trouble finding the good points of this story.

I hate to be harsh on this comic. The art is good. The storyline is original. But it has no real direction. It contains very little humor, and too little action. The whole thing is drawn out so the by the time any thing happens, you tend to be bored. Sorry Lando, I see a lot of potential in your work, but it will take some major work to get this thing on track.
Site updates are Wednesday and Friday
Strike Force 3 is rated MATURE for Violence, Language, and Sexual Situations.
