Web Comic Review for 10/24/2003
Welcome back my loyal readers and hello to all you newcomers. It is time once again for another review by your favorite deity of the web comic world. This weeks review is over Van Von Hunter by Pseudomé Studio LLC, Mike Schwark, and Ron Kaulfersch. That's a lot of people to give credit for a black-and-white comic that comes out once a week.

Van Von Hunter is the comic tale of...Van Von Hunter, Hunter of Evil Stuff. Yeah, I know the name leaves something to be desired, but it does seem to fit the guy. VVH (I am not going to say that name every time) is apparently a rouge hero out to do the world some good by killing vampires ghouls, zombies, spiders, and lawyers....your basic incarnations of evil. Traveling with our hero is the girl; she doesn't have a name. Well she has a name, but she has never been allowed to say it so "the girl" is the best you are going to get from me. Van is on the run from all sorts of evil that he has managed to tick off. Being an Evil Hunter never wins you points in the undead community. Van's greatest rival is the dark leader of the land that he is currently in. Yes my readers, VVH is on the run from that evil known simply as The Flaming Prince! Yeah, it wasn't his choice, but it does seem to fit him rather well. Can our hero survive the Prince and his minions of evil? Probably not, but it will be fun watching him try. That’s the whole plot, but I think that's enough.

Van Von Hunter is not the most original comic on the web, but it has its moments. The artwork, while black-and-white manga-ish (I just made that up) is very stylish and has a look that isn't quite like the other work that I have seen on the net. The plotline is thin at best, and the characters are more two dimensional than my flat screen monitor. Strangely enough, this complete lack of plot and or background doesn't take away from the strip in the least. The comedy in VVH more than compensates for the lack of depth. When you can make your audience laugh, you can make them forget about everything else. Few web comics have made me laugh like Van has. My biggest complaint about this comic is the lack of updates. The artwork of VVH is detailed, but it isn't time consuming enough to justify a once a week schedule. I love quality, but I can't get enough of something I enjoy.

Site updates are on Sunday
Van Von hunter is rated TEEN for Mild Violence.
